An advertiser, Sir Martin Sorrell, entertained me today with this quote, from an interview with BBC News. He was talking about tough economic times continuing in 2013:

“It’s been a very gruelling year and next year is going to be more of the same. You’re in the trenches and it’s hand-to-hand combat. Corporates are not happy bunnies at the moment.”

It was the tasty Eton Mess of metaphor in particular. I would love to see the trench rabbits of commerce, the brute fury of their engagements. Possibly illustrated by D’Israeli?
